Fondukistan: Two Naga Kings

阿富汗帕爾旺省豐都基斯坦佛寺遺址出土

阿富汗帕爾旺省豐都基斯坦(Fondukistan, Parwan)佛寺遺址出土。據《增一阿含經》卷二十八,昔時佛陀至三十三天為母說法時,難陀與跋難陀龍王見彼諸沙門飛行於天上,起瞋恚心,欲放大火風阻止,後被目犍連降伏,乃隨眾至佛所聽法。諸龍王於大乘經典《妙法蓮華經》卷一〈序品〉、北本《大般涅槃經》卷一〈壽命品〉等文本中被視為護法神,多躋身於佛陀說法大會。《過去現在因果經》卷一亦載,佛陀降誕之時,二龍王於虛空中,吐清淨水,一溫一涼,灌太子身。
 此二龍王像僅現上半身,彼此相對,頭微上仰,身軀皆略微向後傾斜。雙手分置於池邊及中央粗大的蓮莖主幹上,顯示二龍王浮現於池中。龍王皆高額,頭髮卷曲,綰髮髻,耳璫呈喇叭形。袒上身,胸前掛珠鍊項飾,戴臂釧、腕釧。身軀肢體細節表現肌膚之柔軟及富於彈性,姿態寫實優美,充分發揮泥塑藝術的柔潤與靈活,呈現豐都基斯坦的造像美學特徵。
