塔波寺壁畫

印度

位於印度喜馬偕爾邦司丕提(Spiti, Himachal Pradesh)塔波寺(Tabo Gompa)。該寺於九九六年由古格王喇嘛益西沃(ye shes 'od)興建,一○四二年其姪孫喇嘛絳曲沃(byang chub 'od)修建,並重繪各殿堂內之壁畫。寺院布局呈東西走向,主要建築有大殿、金殿、曼荼羅殿、彌勒殿、大仲敦巴殿、小仲敦巴殿及多座舍利塔與僧院。大殿包括了護法殿、新前殿、舊前殿、大經堂和後殿等相連的建築。寺內保存大量壁畫與題記,如分布於大經堂、後殿和金殿的彩繪,畫風融合了喀什米爾、東印度、西藏西部及中亞等地特色。
 大經堂平面呈縱長方形,四壁繪圖,間有許多題記,或書圖題,或摘錄經文。壁畫分成上中下三層,南北二壁上層繪多組一佛二菩薩像;東壁門上方和西壁通往後殿入口上方為護法及脇侍像,其上另有一佛二菩薩;西壁北側上層可見法界語自在文殊菩薩曼荼羅圖。圖像均呈典型的喀什米爾風格,又兼具印度波羅王朝(Pala,約8~12世紀)造像特色,展現出當時藝術演變的進程。中層繪有許多女尊坐像和瑞獸,巧妙地與懸掛於壁前的塑像融為一體。
 大經堂四壁下層布滿敘事圖,沿東壁入口南側至西壁南側,依據《大方廣佛華嚴經》描畫善財童子五十三參,其間摘記經文,既具教化功能,亦起分隔場景妙用。入口北側、北壁至西壁北側主要根據《方廣大莊嚴經》繪製佛傳故事,一些題材如摩耶夫人赴藍毗尼園,不曾見於印度傳統佛教藝術。這些敘事圖畫風與上層佛菩薩像風格相近,並反映出當時社會的衣著頭飾、建築形制、交通方式、軍備等面貌,儼然寶貴的圖像歷史。
 後殿平面呈方形,以「ㄇ」形牆隔出迴廊與佛龕,壁畫分布於迴廊和佛龕壁面,其中佛龕入口南側壁之高僧說法圖,以圖像描畫了該寺之重大事蹟。迴廊與佛龕壁畫主要亦分上中下三層,迴廊四壁與佛龕西、北外壁上層依據《賢劫經》繪賢劫諸佛,或著通肩袈裟、結禪定印,或著袒右袈裟、手結印相,兩種不同造型的坐佛間次排列,每尊均附有榜題。迴廊中層分上下兩列,繪三十二尊菩薩坐像,造型生動,衣著和首飾豐富多元,描繪細緻,堪稱該寺傑作;下層羅列敘事場景,主題不詳,其中一幅為譬喻故事,另有一些善財童子五十三參片段。佛龕內三壁繪有坐佛和供養人等像。
 大經堂、後殿迴廊和佛龕天花橫梁間貼滿布畫,彩繪各式圖案。從牆壁上端精緻的帷帳圖紋推測,大經堂、迴廊和佛龕之天花紋飾,實為三個巨大華蓋,與殿內布置結合,營造出濃厚的佛國淨土氛圍。
 金殿壁畫保存狀態尚佳,其中北壁的大日如來曼荼羅圖和同壁一幅綠度母像,線條細膩,顏色鮮豔,帶有藏傳佛教繪畫風格。
