此像表現釋迦太子成佛前苦修六年的形象。釋迦面相方正，表情安詳，雙目微閉，似作沉思狀。頭頂高髻，有髻珠，大耳垂肩，頭髮、眉毛及絡腮鬍卷曲蓬起。袈裟衣紋簡潔流暢，袖緣圖案細膩精緻。四肢瘦削，屈膝而坐，雙手自然置於左膝上。此像通體鎏金，寫實逼真，細膩生動，為後世羅漢苦修造像所仿傚。
