Mogao Cave 17: Patchwork

甘肅省酒泉市敦煌市莫高窟第17窟出土。八世紀末至九世紀作品。織物呈長方形，雙層，由七塊不同花色的面料橫向縫接而成。
依佛制，袈裟由五至二十五條奇數構成，此件織物符合袈裟製衣規制，但其尺寸偏小，不一定適合穿著。其中有兩片昂貴紫色綾，推測或為唐代（618～907）高僧用為包裹經書的經袱，或作案褥、墊褥之用。
織物由各種面料對稱拼縫，表層為絹、錦、暗花綾、絹地刺繡品等組成，間飾以三葉紋、綾紋等紋樣，亦繡有藍色長尾鳥、花與蝴蝶；裡層為平織綿、絹地。織物四邊為藍地絹，上有夾纈技術染的對鳥銜枝紋，四隅均有斜角接縫。原件表、裡大多已殘損。
