作品原題「唐尉遲乙僧吉羅果林佛像」，經強燈照射，發現左下角有「陳用志敬摹」題字及「用志」落款。畫史上載尉遲乙僧用筆如屈鐵盤絲，然陳用志無他作傳世，故無從比較其作品特色，只能推測是北宋（960～1127）陳用志摹仿尉遲乙僧之作。
畫中釋迦形象似西域僧人，眉間有白毫，蓄髭鬚，披紅色袈裟，衣紋稠疊。左手托果實，右手拄杖，從開滿花朵的樹下走過。作品風格古拙，用色沉著濃郁，線條緊勁，岩石、樹葉、果實等顏料塗得較厚。從裱裝紙得知曾藏於宋代（960～1279）天祥寺。
