興化寺彌勒下生經變相之剃度

原山西省運城市稷山縣興化寺

原位於山西省運城市稷山縣興化寺,現寺已不存。據興化寺後殿壁畫題記,是朱好古及張伯淵所繪。根據《佛說彌勒下生成佛經》,彌勒於龍華樹下成道後,當時的轉輪聖王儴佉率八萬四千大臣,儴佉王寶女舍彌婆帝領八萬四千綵女,聞彌勒佛說法後,剃度出家。此圖係表現儴佉王及舍彌婆帝剃度的情形。
 圖中央彌勒佛呈倚坐姿,足踏蓮台,其左右文殊、普賢二菩薩,單足下垂踏蓮台;三尊主像均有圓形頭光及身光。佛與二菩薩間立迦葉、阿難二弟子及二脇侍菩薩,均有圓形頭光。佛座前的圓光內置有三寶爐一座,佛頭光兩側一對迦陵頻伽乘雲而降。
 畫面兩側分別表現儴佉王及舍彌婆帝剃度的場景。右側儴佉王手持念珠,左側舍彌婆帝雙手合十,二人均披髮端坐。身後宮人神情專注持刀剃髮,周圍宮女、侍者持寶扇、捧盤、冠等。儴佉王身後上方繪多聞天王及增長天王。儴佉王右側一童子,一手拉著王的衣袖,一手拭淚。據《佛說彌勒大成佛經》記載:「穰佉王千子唯留一人用嗣王位,餘九百九十九人,亦與八萬四千人,於佛法中俱共出家。」此童子可能是王千子中,留下繼承王位者。
 畫面人物筆力剛健,轉折流暢,有唐代(618~907)吳道子線條之風采。敷色精謹細緻,墨色均勻,色彩用青、綠、朱、赭、黃多種,色澤渾厚,饒有古樸莊重之感。背景祥雲襯托,使畫面既有動感又具裝飾意味。壁畫在造型、用筆、設色方面,大體上與原亦為該寺壁畫,現藏北京故宮博物院之七佛圖相類。
