十世達賴楚臣嘉措（tshul khrims rgya mtsho）於清道光二年（1822）通過「金瓶掣簽」，被選定為轉世靈童，時年六歲。十三歲入西藏拉薩哲蚌寺（'bras spungs dgon pa）學習，尚未親政即於二十二歲在布達拉宮（lha sa po ta la）圓寂。
此像為十九世紀作品，形式化地表現一位黃教領袖的標準樣式，頭戴通人冠，面相莊嚴，右手當胸施說法印，並拈長莖花，花朵升至右肩頭，上托有經書，書上立有一柄短劍。由於十世達賴沒有親政且十分年輕時便圓寂，因此其造像並不多見。
