位於日本神奈川縣鎌倉市圓覺寺開山堂。從其造型推測係鎌倉弘安九年（1286）示寂前後所雕造，現為日本重要文化財。無學祖元為中國南宋（1127～1279）臨濟宗僧，弘安二年（1279）應鎌倉幕府北條時宗之邀赴日，助時宗二次擊退元寇，為告慰戰歿亡靈，而創建圓覺寺，諡號佛光國師。
該像較真人小，眼瞳鑲嵌玉石，妝彩。額頭刻劃皺紋，目光炯炯，嘴唇緊閉，表情嚴峻又不失其慈愛，容貌寫實。身披袈裟，原手持拂子，今已佚，結跏趺坐於曲彔上。袖口、衣襟垂下之形式及袈裟左上邊吊掛六角形環扣，乃南宋時代禪僧肖相雕刻之特徵。
