傳新疆維吾爾自治區和田地區出土，推判原應安置於佛塔或寺院壁面。佛螺髮上部中央與肉髻正面作漩渦紋，其周邊配列波狀紋樣，此表現被認為是受犍陀羅風格影響。眉目細長，寬額端鼻，嘴角微抿，面帶笑容，眼微啟近乎瞇成一線，有異於西域早期的造像風格。
從佛像之外表觀察，從最初製作到潤飾完成，似以不同材質塑形，其間經過三、四道工序，顯示其造像過程之繁複。由佛頭之比例大小，推測原為與真人等身之塑像。
