佛頭像

印度北方邦秣菟羅恰木達蒂拉出土

印度北方邦秣菟羅恰木達蒂拉(Chamunda Tila, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh)出土。佛頭造型呈現出笈多王朝(約320~550)秣菟羅樣式的典型特徵,如一圈圈排列整齊的右旋螺髮、拉長的矩形耳垂與頸部的三道紋等。
 佛臉形橢圓,未刻白毫,可能曾以顏料描繪。纖細上挑的長眉、低垂的眼瞼、人中及豐厚的下唇,均以凸起的棱線刻劃。面容雖已按照佛三十二相而呈固定模式,但仍具備印度人的相貌特點。
