悉達多太子誕生時，走了七步，右手指天，左手指地，並說：「天上天下，唯我獨尊。」韓國的太子誕生像於六至七世紀上半葉非常流行，並有兩種不同造型，一為右手指天，另一種如此尊右手肘彎曲掌心向外。後者樣式於統一新羅時期（668～935）和高麗時期（918～1392）相當受歡迎，並傳至日本圖解和造像作品中，從飛鳥時代（538～645）到平安時代（794～1185）所遺留下的例子皆可以見到。該像立於覆蓮台上，臉孔似孩童，袒上身，下身著裙，姿態自然。
