土庫曼斯坦馬雷州梅爾夫古城佛塔遺蹟出土
一九四六年土庫曼斯坦馬雷州（Mary Velayat）梅爾夫古城遺址（Merv）佛塔遺蹟出土。佛頭部已失，趺坐於小巧的仰覆蓮座上，兩膝懸空，雙手作轉法輪印。著通肩袈裟，衣褶自然，略有犍陀羅造像特色。
蓮座下有方形台座，上下邊緣飾聯珠紋，正面中央雕禪定坐佛，兩旁各有二弟子侍立，均側身向佛，雙掌似作合十狀。造像臉部、身軀多處損毀，僅佛右外側一身稍完整。
此遺址同時發掘出貴霜王朝（約1〜3世紀）的銅幣，顯示貴霜勢力及於今日中亞一帶。該像應為犍陀羅作品，於製作後再被攜至此地。
