狩野探幽

畫師 繪畫卷

名守信,入僧籍後改稱探幽。生於一六○二年,卒於一六七四年。日本江戶時代(1615~1868)初期畫師。京都人。桃山時代(1573~1615)畫匠永德之孫,孝信之子。早年與其父一起出入江戶(今東京),十六歲時成為德川幕府的御用畫師。
 多繪製山水、花鳥及釋道人物畫,主題廣泛,精通大和繪及中國宋元水墨畫。其中,釋迦三尊像、觀音像等,以水墨技法描繪,畫風澹淡簡潔,筆調柔和纖細,背景多留白,反映上層社會之趣味,取代桃山時代華麗的風格,並確立江戶狩野派樣式之基礎,其畫風成為後世典範,有「永德再世」之稱。
 傳世作品有江戶城、二條城、名古屋城、京都大德寺及妙心寺等障壁畫製作。另有維摩詰像,自奈良時代(710~794)以來繪畫、雕刻之題材,此畫為探幽六十六歲之作,藏大德寺;三教圖,共三幅,中央為釋迦牟尼佛,左右配置孔子、老子,象徵釋、儒、道三教合一,藏京都靈洞院;釋迦牟尼佛坐像,為紙本水墨淡彩,大德寺本山方丈室之襖繪,傳狩野探幽手筆,藏大德寺。
