Dialogue Between Masters Tansheng and Weishan

雲巖曇晟禪師公案語 白隱慧鶴

白隱禪師晚年所書。此書為曇晟禪師與溈山禪師對話公案中語。溈山問：「暫時不在，如同死人如何？」曇晟答：「好埋卻。」意指無意識時和死人是沒有差別的，因為見性之人不等於無情的木石沒有知覺。
此卷書法用圓滿粗厚的筆調貫穿全篇，使作品產生安定的感覺，加上兩行字間距離又近，便形成整幅精神充沛的視覺感。其墨韻流動不滯，則酣暢的書寫中兼有淋漓，是具有氣勢的禪家書作。
白隱禪師俗姓杉山，幼名岩次郎，號鵠林。日本江戶時代（1615～1868）中期臨濟宗僧人，平生不喜名利，曾遊歷諸國，世稱日本臨濟宗中興之祖，提倡講演，一生致力於公案之系統化，並獨力復興日漸式微之臨濟宗。其所創「隻手之聲」之公案為日人自創公案中最著名者。
