此日本阿彌陀佛坐像為十一至十二世紀作品，以硬而質密的肉豆蔻木雕刻而成，外表塗以黑漆，並薄施金箔，以表現質感。
佛手結彌陀定印，結跏趺坐。肉髻圓大，螺髮均勻，排列規整。面相方圓，大耳，斂目厚唇，神情恬淡。頸部三道紋，身軀結實，豐胸細腰。袈裟衣紋疏朗，線條粗簡，棱條凸起，呈現其立體感。
