印度安得拉邦犍陀娑拉出土

印度安得拉邦犍陀娑拉(Ghantasala, Andhra Pradesh)出土。該像以象徵手法表現釋尊排除魔王波旬的干擾,悟道成佛的場面。造像以空台座及佛足跡代表佛陀,此種未將佛陀具像化的手法,為早期印度佛像尚未造像之前,所採用的象徵示意手法。
 圖中菩提樹之右側為攻擊釋迦的魔眾,左側為魔軍敗退場景,採異時同圖法則構圖。空台座左側站立者為誘惑釋迦的魔女,下半身已損毀;右側角落處為挫敗的魔王。圖下方細長的底欄刻有動物圖案。
 造像人物表情豐富,具柔軟的姿態及生動的構圖,是受到印度南部阿瑪拉瓦提佛教美術的影響所產生的作品。
