金銅孔雀紋磬

日本

磬源於中國古代樂器,以玉石所製,屬禮器之一,寺院多將之懸於磬架上。日本自奈良時代(710~794)起,僧人於法會誦經時司打,平安時代(794~1185)之後,以精緻技法打造出許多的銅磬。據撞座左右刻銘「奉施入/毛越寺千手堂/建長二年(1250)大歲庚戌」,得知此磬原奉置於岩手毛越寺千手堂,推測約製於當時。一九五三年指定為日本國寶。
 磬為銅鑄鎏金,作曲形,上下緣呈微弧形相連。高13公分,肩寬32.4公分,下部寬32.6公分,重達2.1公斤。正反面同紋樣及技法,中央撞座呈蓮花形,直徑9.5公分,以蓮瓣紋環繞,蓮蓬上刻有數顆蓮子。左右是展翅相對的孔雀,翎毛上揚,單腳挺立,口銜花枝。孔雀頭上的肉冠、身軀、羽翼及至翎毛均施以細緻線刻。磬上方肩部兩側各鑄一環扣,便於懸掛。
