Manpukuji Temple Heavenly King Hall: Maitreya Buddha

位於日本京都府宇治市萬福寺天王殿，原安置於松隱堂。據高泉性潡的《洗雲集》記載，該像為中國雕刻師范道生應隱元隆琦之邀赴日，於江戶寬文三年（1663）雕造。布袋和尚為九世紀下半葉中國唐（618～907）末五代（907～960）之高僧契此，傳說為彌勒菩薩之化身，故此像以布袋和尚之造型作為彌勒像。
推測該像係用厚重堅實之硬材柚木所雕造，全身施以金彩，展現量感。豎起右足，左足平放，右手置於右膝上，左手握著布袋，採舒適坐姿。面相圓而豐盈，方額大耳，眼瞼半開，嘴角上揚，張口微笑。袒露上身，腹部圓如大鼓，身材肥胖，表現福態為其特徵。容貌及繁複之衣紋表現，被認為是明代（1368～1644）末期雕刻之特色。
