Sahri Bahlol: Seated Buddha

佛坐像

巴基斯坦西北邊境省白夏瓦薩利巴路爾佛寺遺址出土

巴基斯坦開伯爾巴圖克瓦省白夏瓦(Peshawar, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa)薩利巴路爾(Sahri Bahlol)佛寺遺址出土。此尊佛像著通肩袈裟,雙手於腹前作禪定印。頭頂肉髻高隆,螺髮密布,眉間有白毫,顯示出佛陀三十二相之造像特徵。一般犍陀羅佛像仍多受希臘、羅馬影響,髮紋呈波狀,該像的螺髮極為罕見。座上鋪設墊子,兩端雕飾獸形支腳。座前中央刻戴敷巾冠飾的菩薩坐像,應為成道前的釋迦,菩薩兩側站立合掌供養人。
 此像具犍陀羅生動、寫實之表現手法,衣紋以大波浪與凸起的棱線交替搭配,尤其是垂於台座前的懸裳皺褶,富有裝飾美。相較於典型犍陀羅厚實的造像特質,此佛像整體量感雖略微扁平單薄,但刻工考究,在佛教美術的發展歷程中,影響著後來中國、日本和韓國的造像風格,極具歷史意義,如日本平安時代(794~1185)木雕上常見的翻波式衣紋,即具此特色。
