一九七九年新疆維吾爾自治區和田縣瑪利克阿瓦提佛寺遺址出土。瑪利克阿瓦提佛寺遺址，原名庫馬提，與瞿摩帝的和闐語音相似，推測是古于闐境內重要寺院之一的瞿摩帝寺遺蹟。一九三○年在遺址中心石塔附近，發掘出一座寺院。一九七九年再次進行試掘時，發現燒毀的木柱、柱礎、泥塑佛像殘塊、散落在地上的壁畫，和佛寺建築上的石膏裝飾圖案等。該佛像可能是佛首或身光中的影塑化佛。
佛高肉髻，髻底繫帶，寬額圓頤。身披通肩袈裟，一角搭在左肩上，褶襞凹入，左臂自然下垂，手握袈裟衣角，右臂屈舉。襞褶在兩腿間呈「U」狀，兩側呈縱向延伸。佛上身較長，腿部比例相對較短，與犍陀羅藝術相似，具有早期佛像的特徵。
