新疆維吾爾自治區和田地區墨玉縣庫木拉巴特佛寺遺址出土。出土地原是一處佛教遺蹟，多數學者認為即是玄奘《大唐西域記》中所述的古代于闐鼠壤墳。一九八九年該處發現三處佛寺遺址，大約建於晉代（265～420）至北朝（386～581）。其中一座佛殿出土有千佛、彌勒佛、動物圖和天人像等壁畫和建築裝飾的石膏殘件等，此尊即為其中一身。
此像為模製，彩繪，推測原為貼塑在佛頭光、背光中的供養天人。該天人後有頭光，臉形圓渾，兩耳戴環，寬肩，細腰，豐臀，反映出當時當地的審美觀。身披花繩，雙手高舉持瓔珞供養，身處盛開蓮花中。朱紅色帔巾在藍色背景襯托下，色澤顯得十分鮮豔。
