Daianji Temple: Avalokitesvara Holding a Willow Branch

該像瞠目、張口露齒現忿怒相，為菩薩像中少見的形象，被視為日本奈良時代（710～794）末期與雜密相關之造像。尊名不詳，楊柳觀音乃後世之稱呼。從頭部至足下岩台由榧木整材雕造，背面上方與腰下左右分別施以內刳，頭髮、衣服部分以木屑漆塑形，妝彩，髮髻、鼻、左肘前端、右肩等為後來補上。一九○二年指定為日本重要文化財。
菩薩像高168.5公分，頭結髮髻，寬額端鼻，豐頰，面相莊嚴，屈右臂，手指微握，左手下垂作與願印，腳穿木屐。頸部三道紋，肩寬胸厚，腰腹內收，身軀健碩。袒上身，胸前佩戴細雕瓔珞，帔帛由雙肩垂掛腹前呈二重「U」形。下裳輕薄，胸腹間繫結帶子，此造型傳說是當時從中國傳入的新形式。
