陶瓦當

日本

此二組瓦當分別為日本八世紀與十二世紀作品,皆是岡山縣赤磐郡瀨戶町万富瓦窯之製品。
 一組瓦當為奈良時代(710~794)東大寺創建時期建築物屋檐筒瓦頭部,多從該寺大佛殿院及僧坊、西塔遺址出土。圓形,直徑19公分;半弧形,寬27.2公分。圓形中央配置蓮花紋,半弧形中央為卷草紋樣,周圍均以聯珠紋環繞,亦稱為東大寺式瓦。
 另一組是鎌倉時代(1185~1333)東大寺重建時期之物。圓形,直徑20.3公分;半弧形,寬35.8公分。圓形中央蓮瓣紋環繞之圓相內書種子梵字及「東大寺大佛殿」字樣,周緣飾浮凸聯珠紋。半弧形中間亦書「東大寺大佛殿」,上下緣飾聯珠紋。
