大足寶頂山石窟大佛灣第17龕報恩經變相之大孝釋迦佛親擔父王棺

位於龕內佛右側壁下層。事見《佛說淨飯王般涅槃經》。經中稱，釋迦牟尼佛的父親淨飯王病逝後，難陀、阿難陀和羅雲都希望幫淨飯王抬棺，但是釋迦牟尼佛因大慈悲，念當來世，人民兇暴，不報父母育養之恩，決定親擔父王棺。當時一切諸天，俱來赴喪，四天王亦請求能擔父王棺。
圖中棺露一角，釋迦牟尼佛及二天王抬棺前行，佛擔負於前，雙手扶杠，頂出兩道毫光，光中豎刻「大孝釋迦佛／親擔父王棺」；二天王立於佛後，躬身而行。難陀行於佛前，手持長柄香爐，其前方有一塔，上刻「淨飯大王舍利寶塔」。羅雲合十，阿難拱揖，行於棺後，均面露哀容。壁上刻「釋迦牟尼佛為末世眾生設化法故擔父王棺」銘文，造像者根據經文重撰，故文與經文略有異。
