大足北山石窟第253龕觀音及地藏變相
重慶大足
位於窟群北段。圓拱形龕，寬1.22公尺，高1.57公尺，進深0.86公尺。正壁主像為觀音、地藏菩薩立像，赤足並立於蓮台上，項後有圓形火焰頭光，上方有珠網垂幔七寶蓋；寶蓋兩側面上，各雕飛天，手中捧盤。地藏作年輕沙門形，身著袈裟，雙耳戴環，項飾瓔珞，雙手已損毀。觀音戴高花冠，身著天衣，項飾瓔珞，左手提淨瓶，右手持楊柳枝。
龕兩側壁面各雕祥雲六朵，列為三層，雲中各有一組人物，或騎馬，或拱揖，或捧笏，或恭立，冠服不一，姿態各異，分別為十王、冥府司官及侍吏等像。原有榜題文字，現可辨識的有宋廣王、五官王、太山大王等。龕外左壁另有題記，為北宋淳化五年（994）大足縣民裝修功德記。此龕變相依據《佛說十王經》的內容雕造，是唐代（618～907）以來流行的地藏十王圖本之一。造像雕刻華麗，人物造型優美，是現存同類題材的代表作。
