Statuette of Long Eyebrow Arhat

CHINA

This figure is a contemporary interpretation of the Arhat with Long Eyebrows modeled in dough.
The Arhat has a high forehead, long white eyebrows, sunken half-closed eyes, a bulbous nose, and a wide mouth. He has a wise face and a wrinkled neck typical of an elder. The nimbus consists of a thin circle of dough. The Arhat wears robes with a field pattern red ceremonial robe which trails to the floor. He has beads around his neck and a scroll rests in his lap with a golden incense burner in front.
