JAPAN, Shiga, Higashiomi; Kamakura period

Instruments during Buddhist Dharma services, this set of cymbals and gong are thought to be among the oldest in Japan. They were listed as Important Cultural Properties in 1976.
The cymbals have a large raised bell with a hole at the center for inserting a cord. The gong is round with two holes at the top for a suspension cord.
