Yao Siyuan

CHINA, Henan, Anyang; Tang dynasty

Yao Siyuan was a painter from Linquan (present day Zhangde, Anyang). He was famous for his unique Buddhist and Daoist figure paintings which expressed encouragement of compassion and good deeds. Xuanhe Catalog of Paintings recorded three of his works, Buddha Assembly, Mahamayuri, and Twenty-Four Changes of Purple Star Astrology.
