Copper alloy
This simple sculpture depicts a Buddha seated in full lotus position on a simplified lotus throne. The figure has a rounded usnisa and wears a monastic robe that covers both shoulders. The figure’s hands are hidden within the wide sleeves. The nimbus features a large lotus and is enclosed within a petal-shaped mandorla incised with a pattern of flames. An inscription is located on the front legs of the stand stating that Ren Ting commissioned the sculpture in 504 for his father.
