Master Hyujeong

清虛休靜像

西山清虛休靜，朝鮮中宗二十九年（1534）出家，宣祖二十五年（1592）壬辰倭亂奉旨集合僧人打退日本入侵者，因而受封表揚。後以禪修融合儒、釋、道三學聞名。此像繪於絹布上，水墨敷彩，為十六世紀末至十七世紀作品，現藏美國舊金山亞洲藝術博物館。
禪師坐於龍頭座椅上，椅上覆蓋華麗紅布，布上有波浪紋環繞蓮葉的菱形圖案。臉部線條流暢，敏銳的雙眼和緊閉的雙唇表現堅韌的性格。身著僧袍，外披袈裟，袈裟衣緣繪有精美的花紋及雲紋圖案。其高雅的僧袍表現出早期朝鮮佛教禪師的特殊地位身分。
