日本京都清凉寺藏釋迦牟尼佛立像之裝藏品。日本奈良東大寺僧人Z然，於北宋雍熙二年（985）造訪中國浙江台州，翌年攜回一尊釋迦牟尼佛像，內藏多件重要文物，此鏡即為其中之一，與該僧自書的《入瑞像五藏具記捨物注文》之「水月觀音鏡子一面」記載相符。一九五五年指定為日本國寶。
鏡作圓形，白銅鑄。鏡面以毛雕鐫刻圖紋，精巧入微，紋路纖細如髮絲。水月觀音後有頭光，綰髮戴冠，兩側繒帶垂至肩部。眉間有白毫，面貌圓滿。披帔帛，襞褶輕柔順暢。左手後撐於台座，右手置於右膝，舒坐於蓮池岩座上。觀音四周以細線勾勒出竹林、華蓋、花卉及飛鳥為背景。
