拉察席他拉姆寺佛傳圖之三弦琴喻

泰國

位於拉察席他拉姆寺(Wat Rajasittharam)戒堂內。描繪悉達多太子於苦行林中修行多年,因斷食而衰弱無力,帝釋天遂下凡點化太子,以琴弦之過鬆、過緊和適中,寓意修行應擇中道。
 圖中央悉達多太子右脇臥於岩台上,帝釋天於旁抱琴彈奏,前方五比丘正相互議論,右下角和左上角樹椏間有許多苦行者。在泰國一般佛傳圖中,太子多為貴族形象,此圖卻描繪太子頂戴火焰紋,後有紅色舉身光,呈現成佛之相。
 畫面人物突出,主題鮮明。背景山林占很大面積,自然景物描繪精緻細膩,結合寫實性與理想化手法,營造了自然環境安詳的氛圍,有力地烘托了畫面的主題。
 琴弦喻亦見《雜阿含經》,經文記載佛陀之弟子二十億耳尊者,精勤修習,然不能盡除諸漏,乃還俗返家。佛陀遂問尊者,在家習琴,琴弦若急若緩,琴聲如何?二十億耳尊者始悟修行應中道,最後證得阿羅漢果。
