畫中僧人可能為噶當派喇嘛。該像寬臉，頭向右轉四分之三側面，內著僧坎，外披團花大袍，雙手結轉法輪印，同時撥弄念珠，結跏趺坐。下有卡墊，墊下伸出一截帶格子紋樣的花毯。背後襯有軟墊，鑲嵌多彩寶石的寶座裝飾各種瑞獸圖案。畫面上方兩側二尊菩薩，皆一腳盤起，一腳下踏而坐。
該唐卡色彩柔和，構圖平正，屬噶當派風格，約十一至十二世紀流行於西藏中部的繪畫藝術，由印度阿底峽尊者帶入西藏中部地區而發展出來的繪畫風格。
阿底峽尊者抵達衛藏地區，開始振興佛教、弘法授徒、建立噶當派，並以印度畫作為摹本，重新規範佛教造像、壁畫及唐卡的儀軌，印度波羅（Pala，約8～12世紀）風格始流傳於當地。
