Kuramadera Temple: Avalokitesvara Bodhisattva

觀音菩薩像 肥後定慶

據足部接榫銘文記載，該像為日本肥後別當（管轄大寺院的僧官）定慶於鎌倉嘉祿二年（1226）所雕造，安貞三年（1229）供奉於日本京都鞍馬寺，現藏於靈寶殿。一九○三年指定為日本重要文化財。
觀音之頭部、體軀以檜材前後接合而成，眼瞳鑲嵌玉石，妝彩。束高寶髻，頭髮盤繞而上，髮際亦結辮髮。面長而圓，俊美秀麗，額頭正中有一圓珠，目光炯炯有神，嘴角內收，耳垂鏤空，表情沉穩。身軀瘦長纖細，左手持蓮蕾，右手舉至胸前，拇指和中指相捻，腰身稍微扭曲，跣足端立蓮台上。袒上身，帔帛由左肩垂披，下裙長及腳踝，衣紋繁複，褶痕深刻，綠青彩色並施加碎金紋樣。身後頭光、身光相連，頭光周緣貼飾紋樣。該像富有裝飾性之表現，顯然受中國宋代（960～1279）造像的影響。
