道濟禪師，宋代（960～1279）臨濟宗楊岐派僧。浙江臨海人。年十八時落髮於浙江杭州靈隱寺。學識淵博，擅詩善文，出語諧謔，以精湛的醫術為人治疾，扶危濟困，世人尊為濟公活佛。
作品刻劃一位看似顛狂，實則睿智的得道高僧。敞胸露腹坐躺於台上，蹺腿，腰間繫一葫蘆，似笑非笑。人體結構表現準確，細節刻劃精細，特別是台座採用多種傳統技法精心塑造，古拙的造型和流暢的線條與主體形成對比。
