甘肅省酒泉市敦煌市莫高窟第17窟出土。屬八至九世紀初作品。此件為對幡其一，另一幅收藏在印度新德里國家博物館。幡的配件已全丟失，主體則被完整保存下來。
故事由上而下分為三個情節。上段繪坐騎犍陟及馬夫車匿向太子下跪，表現別離的場景；中段為太子準備剃髮；下段繪纏著紅腰布的修行者，獨自坐在岩石上，鳥在其頭上築巢，瘦骨嶙峋，表現的是太子修習苦行的情形。不同情結之間以山水區隔開來。
此圖運用三遠法構圖，並將中國山水畫常用的皴法應用其中。另外，每個情節旁邊均有長方形榜題。
