Engakuji Temple: Whisk of Master Wuxue Zuyuan

日本鎌倉圓覺寺開山祖師南宋(1127~1279)高僧無學祖元之用物。現為日本重要文化財。手柄用淺浮雕技法於素木刻飾狀若迴旋紋之連續紋樣,再髹塗多層朱漆後,研磨拋光而成。柄首繫束長毛並結繩線,線尾端垂飾流蘇。手柄雕刻精緻,為鎌倉之傳統工藝品。
 拂子,又稱拂塵、麈尾。將獸毛、麻等捆紮成束,加上手柄而成。印度一般使用此物拂除蚊蟲,或撣灰塵,後為佛教莊嚴供具。中國唐代(618~907)之後禪門盛行持拂子,住持上堂說法時持用,視之為法具,謂之秉拂,象徵說法。鎌倉時代(1185~1333)以後,法會或灌頂儀式中皆以其為莊嚴供具。
