Gokokushiji Temple: Alms Bowl

日本八世紀下半葉佛教供具。傳此鉢係奈良東大寺舉行佛像開光慶典時，聖武天皇（724～749在位）為表達謝意，所賜予當地鑄造佛像的工匠們。高14.5公分，腹徑27.5公分，重1.6公斤，屬大型器皿，應是置於佛殿盛物之用，非僧人日常食器。一九五五年指定為日本國寶。
鉢為銅質鎏金，圓形體，口微斂，肩部圓鼓，腹下內收。深腹，平底。外壁為魚子紋地，毛雕四頭奔馳的獅子、飛雲、寶相花卷草紋等。口沿及腹部中央分別為二條、三條聯珠紋帶，線刻纖細，表現奈良時代（710～794）金工技術之水準。
