馬郎婦觀音即魚籃觀音，為三十三觀音像之一，典出《法華經顯應錄》卷二。唐元和十二年（817）觀音於金沙灘化現成賣魚女，願嫁給能背誦《妙法蓮華經》卷七〈觀世音菩薩普門品〉、《金剛般若波羅蜜經》、《法華經》全卷者。後嫁入馬家，不久病逝現種種度化事蹟。
此中國元代（1271～1368）作品原屬日本京都北區大德寺寸松庵舊藏。圖中觀音為年輕婦女形象，半身，綰髮髻，胸前掛念珠，手持經卷展閱。觀音上方繪一圓光，內有菩薩立像，圓光兩側為「南湖慧雲永福」、「前住公安二聖世月」二僧的題贊，二僧之生平不可考。此圖人物造型樸素典雅，用線細緻，畫意簡明。
