此畫主題繪善財童子拜觀音。觀音束髮戴冠，頭披白巾，頭微低垂，作秀雅中年婦女形象；頸戴瓔珞，身著白色長裙，坐於草葉鋪成的蒲團上。善財童子立於觀音前側下方，正合掌參拜。觀音身後有高山、竹林作背景。
此圖設色以青綠為主，但用色極為清淡，人物衣紋用線簡潔流暢，山石勾線以中鋒用筆為主，再以淡墨微皴和青綠暈染相結合，色墨相融不礙，整個畫面顯得溫潤恬然、清新淡雅。畫面右下側畫家自題「道光二十四年（1844）太歲在甲辰孟冬之月恭畫／大士法相第七十二廣奉十方供養……」，是劉彥沖三十六歲所作。
