涅槃經變相 （傳）吳彬

吳彬生卒年不詳，字文仲，一作文中，莆田（今福建莆田）人，流寓金陵。圖中佛陀作吉祥臥姿，面貌安詳、寂靜，如入禪定，左上方一輪明月。畫面一如《大般涅槃經後分》卷上所述，佛陀「右脇而臥，頭枕北方，足指南方，面向西方，後背東方。……於其中夜入第四禪寂然無聲，於是時頃便般涅槃，大覺世尊入涅槃已。」
此幅構圖以佛陀為中心，周圍舉哀人物眾多，呈放射狀動勢，氣勢雄偉。人物神態、面貌各異，或立於雲端，或立於樹石山巖間，或立於水波間；雲霧呈卷曲狀，樹石水波勾皴嚴謹，設色濃妍。畫中人物相貌不同於吳彬早年十六羅漢畫，造型豐富而誇張。
