金剛持是藏傳佛教噶舉派尊奉的本初佛，被視為釋迦牟尼佛宣說密法時化現的形象，又稱「祕密主」。金剛持的圖像特徵通常是雙手交叉於胸前結金剛吽迦羅印，並分別持象徵慈悲和智慧的金剛杵及金剛鈴，另也有將杵、鈴置於長莖蓮花上。
此像為十四至十五世紀作品，頭戴高寶冠，面相方正，臉頰豐潤，雙目下視，面帶微笑。寬肩細腰，袒上身，雙手於胸前交叉結金剛吽迦羅印。手中不見持物，兩肩側的長莖蓮花亦毀損不全，因此無從確認原有的杵和鈴置於何處。結跏趺坐，下著裙，褶紋簡略，通體鎏金，鑲嵌綠松石，具有漢地風格。
