蓮花生，烏仗那國（今巴基斯坦斯瓦特，Swat）人。唐玄宗天寶六年（747）應邀入藏傳播印度金剛乘密法，並創建西藏第一座寺院桑耶寺（bsam yas gtsug lag khang），被尊為藏密祖師，廣受尊崇。
此像為十四世紀作品，戴寧瑪派僧冠，飾大耳璫。雙目圓睜，神態端嚴。身披袈裟，右手持金剛杵，左手托嘎巴拉碗，左臂夾持卡章嘎杖。底部設蓮花台座，台面伸出三株蓮莖，中央一株承托蓮花大士；兩側伸出兩朵小蓮花，上立蓮花生之女眷曼達惹哇（Mandarava）及耶喜措傑（ye shes mtsho rgyal），造型較小，持碗和瓶，作供養狀。
