此像為佛傳故事中摩耶夫人於藍毗尼園，手攀無憂樹，太子從其右脇誕生的場景。此題材通常以繪畫及浮雕的表現形式為多，圓雕則不多見。
摩耶夫人面如滿月，面部泥金，彩繪，青色的頭髮顯得寧靜而純潔。袒上身，豐胸細腰，下著裙，右手彎曲以示手扶樹枝。摩耶夫人腰際有一半身雙手合十孩童，即為剛初生的太子；右手下方直立者是已誕生的太子。後方開展成鏤空的圓拱形龕，象徵無憂樹的粗枝大葉，上端有塔形裝飾及傘蓋飄帶。兩側有前來道賀的天人和侍女。
