此圖為齊白石繪石濤作畫的情景。石濤本姓朱，名若極，廣西桂林人，五歲剃髮為僧，法名原濟，字石濤，擅畫花卉，兼工人物、山水，畫名極盛。在畫史上與弘仁、髡殘、八大山人合稱為「明末清初四僧」。
圖中繪一僧人伏案提筆作畫，案上置硯台、水碗、小碟，局部施彩，畫風簡樸。圖左款識「石濤作畫圖第二／白石山翁造●（上蒿+下木）（稿）」，下鈐「老白」白文印一枚。「老白」為齊白石的眾多別號之一。
