大日如來主要有兩種類型，一為結定印的胎藏界大日如來，另一為結智拳印的金剛界大日如來。此像是屬於金剛界大日如來。
面部泥金較厚，雙眼大睜，鼻梁粗短，雙頤豐滿，具典型喀什米爾風格。頭戴三葉冠，冠葉寬大且直，形成筒狀帽冠樣式，為巴基斯坦斯瓦特（Swat）造像常見冠式。束髮的繒帶與披肩長髮是苦修者的形象，也是西北印度和藏西地區常採用的菩薩裝束。下身著裙，幾乎不見衣紋。
台座正面有四隻獅子，兩側及背後各有一隻，此類獅子座式樣在西北印度也出現過。該像比較粗略，可能是西藏西部較早的模仿作品。
