內蒙古自治區阿拉善盟額濟納旗黑水城出土，保存完好。圓頭寬臉，五官輪廓清晰，滿面皺紋，張口而笑，神情和藹可親。身披寬鬆的雙領下垂式袈裟，袒腹而坐，腹部鼓起，左臂斜倚一只布袋，右手撫腹，雙足為袈裟所沒。敷有淡彩，紅、綠、青三色相互交錯，設色淡雅。
布袋彌勒的形象於西夏時期（1032～1227）亦曾出現在榆林窟，足見中原佛教藝術的影響廣大，此像為西夏泥塑佳作。
