生卒年不詳。北宋（960～1127）宮廷畫家。蜀（今四川）人。性情敦厚敬慎，酷好丹青。神宗（1067～1085在位）（一說北宋初）時期任圖畫院祗候。擅畫釋道人物，描繪古體衣冠，精裁密緻，且多質野之作，具返璞歸真之特色，為一代奇筆。
作品普陀觀音像，著錄於《德隅齋畫品》；誌公像，著錄於《宋中興館閣儲藏圖書記》。傳世作品有西成民樂圖，藏北京故宮博物院；僧人像、山水圖，藏臺灣臺北故宮博物院。
