No Hindrance in the Mind

心無罣礙 山田寒山

「心無罣礙」語出諸多佛教經典,意為凡事看得開、放得下,心境自然清明、自在,無任何煩惱。山田寒山的篆刻是繼承日本印壇正統體系(芙蓉派),其嘗以簡勁闊達的印風自許,並勇於創新獨樹一幟。
 此印章法承襲漢印,四字平穩勻稱,用印篆之方正字體,結構緊實,字簡者線條粗重如「心」與「無」,字繁者線條瘦勁如「罣」與「礙」。用澀刀法使筆畫呈現「一波三折」的曲線變化。全印生動不呆板,氣勢開闊,印風厚重古樸。
 山田寒山名潤子,號寒山。日本明治時代(1868~1912)名古屋人。十二歲從熱田圓通寺的達關和尚出家。善書畫,工詩詞,精陶藝,篆刻尤佳。篆刻師事小曾根乾堂,後入「芙蓉派」的福井端隱門下。明治十六年(1883)還俗,數年後移居東京,以「芝仙堂」名其室。來華時曾為蘇州寒山寺重鑄新鐘。著有《富益齋印章備正》、《羅漢印譜》、《寒山印譜》等。
