Todaiji Temple: Bodhisattva in Contemplation

據日本奈良東大寺寺傳記載，該像為奈良聖武天皇（724～749在位）的念持佛，以如意輪觀音稱之，但正確名稱不詳，現為日本重要文化財。半跏思惟像之形式在朝鮮三國時期（57 BCE～668）、日本飛鳥（538～645）白鳳（645～710）時代一般為彌勒菩薩造像。
該像從頭頂至台座一體鑄成，右手腕及瓔珞、腕釧等部分另鑄。頭結髮髻，戴三葉花形冠飾，眼瞼無上下線，僅以顏面起伏產生的陰影表現，更添加童顏的柔和感。右手支頤，左手平肘撫觸右足，右腿擱置左腿上，左足垂踏蓮台，坐於覆蓮瓣環繞的圓筒形榻座上，呈半跏思惟坐姿。下裙懸垂座前，衣紋以多重平行直線表現，部分以卷渦紋裝飾，推測約鑄造於八世紀下半葉。
